Time Difference Calculator

Convert a date and time from one city’s time zone to another’s and see the time difference between them, with daylight saving time handled automatically.

How time zone conversion works

Every time zone is an offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). To convert, change the time to UTC using the first zone’s offset, then apply the second zone’s offset. Many places shift their offset by an hour for daylight saving time, which this calculator handles automatically.

Worked example

9:00 AM in New York on October 20, 2026 is during daylight saving time (UTC−4), so it is 13:00 UTC. Karachi is UTC+5, making it 6:00 PM there, a difference of 9 hours.

Daylight saving time

The US moves clocks back on the first Sunday of November, while the UK and EU change on the last Sunday of October. In the weeks between, the gap between New York and London is one hour shorter than usual.
