Speed Distance Time Calculator
Enter any two of speed, distance and time to calculate the third, with results converted between miles, kilometers and meters.
Speed, distance and time formulas
Speed = distance ÷ time Distance = speed × time Time = distance ÷ speed
Keep units consistent: miles with hours give miles per hour. Enter time as hours and minutes, such as 2:30 for two and a half hours, or as decimal hours.
Worked example
Driving 150 miles in 2 hours 30 minutes: speed = 150 ÷ 2.5 = 60 mph. At 60 mph, a 210-mile trip takes 210 ÷ 60 = 3.5 hours, or 3:30:00.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate average speed?
Divide the total distance by the total time, including stops if you want the overall average.
How long does it take to drive 100 miles at 65 mph?
100 ÷ 65 = 1.54 hours, about 1 hour 32 minutes.
How do I convert minutes to hours?
Divide by 60. 45 minutes is 0.75 hours.
Can I use this for walking or running?
