Count the business days between two dates, or add business days to a date to find a deadline. Weekends are skipped, and US federal holidays can be skipped too.
How business days are counted
Business days are Monday through Friday. When counting between two dates, this calculator includes both the start and end dates and leaves out Saturdays, Sundays and, if you choose, US federal holidays. When adding days, the start date is day 0 and counting begins the next business day.
Worked examples
Counting: Monday, November 2 to Monday, November 30, 2026 includes 21 weekdays. Skipping Veterans Day (November 11) and Thanksgiving (November 26) leaves 19 business days.
Adding: 10 business days after Friday, November 20, 2026, skipping Thanksgiving, is Monday, December 7, 2026.

When a fixed-date holiday falls on a Saturday it is observed the Friday before, and on a Sunday it is observed the Monday after. The calculator uses the observed dates.
Banks, courts, states and private employers may follow different holiday calendars. Check the rules that apply to your deadline.
Frequently asked questions
How many business days are in a year?
Usually 260 or 261 weekdays, or about 250 after the 11 US federal holidays are removed.
Is Saturday a business day?
Not in this calculator. Business days are Monday through Friday, though some industries treat Saturday as a working day.
Does the count include the start date?
When counting between dates, yes, both the start and end dates are included if they are business days. When adding days, the count starts the next business day.
What does "within 5 business days" mean?
Count five weekdays after the starting day, skipping weekends and holidays. Use the Add business days mode to find the date.
